60 used syringes, half ton of garbage removed from city property

NORWICH – Officials cleaned up a site known as "tent city" in the town of Norwich on Tuesday, seizing upwards of 60 used syringes and half a ton of garbage from along the Chenango River.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office – along with the City of Norwich Department of Public Works, Norwich Fire Department, and Oxford Fire Department – cleaned up the site located along the Chenango River behind the town of Norwich's North Plaza for several hours on Tuesday.

Norwich DPW Assistant Superintendent George Carnrike and Norwich Fire Chief Tracy Chawgo spoke about the clean up efforts at the city joint committees meeting on Tuesday night.
