CONKLIN – The divisional game between two teams that are expected to be in the Section IV Class B final, became one sided in the second quarter as Susquehanna Valley controlled the game over the Lady Purple Tornado, winning 61-25 Friday night.

Both teams set the physical tone early as each went to the free-throw line at least five time. The Lady Sabers missed all their foul shots in the first quarter while Norwich shot from the line eight times, only making one. The Lady Purple went 3-for-18 for the game.

Sus Valley took the lead when Trinasia Kennedy hit a three from nearly seven feet behind the arc, making it 8-5 with 1:35 left in the quarter. Her teammate Michaela Haskell finished a runner on the baseline to give the Sabers a 10-5 lead at the end of the first.

The pressure of the Sabers defense caused Norwich to panic and turn the ball over, quickly making the game lopsided. Sus Valley went on a tear, taking a 28-7 lead with 1:40 left in the first half.

The half closed out at 37-12.

Coming out in the second half, the Sabers didn’t call the dogs off. Keeping the press on until the end of the third only caused more chaos for the Lady Tornado. Sus Valley turned the Norwich miscues into another 20 point quarter. Norwich was recorded to have a total of 24 turnovers in the contest.
