Maine-Endwell Softball Champs To Be Honored Monday

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Maine-Endwell High School softball team will be honored for their 2017 NYSPHSAA Class A state championship prior to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies game on Monday, August 21 at 6:35 p.m. The players and coaching staff will be recognized by the Rumble Ponies team and front office on the field before the Ponies play the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The Spartans captured their second consecutive Class A New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) state championship on June 10 with a 1-0 victory over Williamsville East at Moreau Recreational Park in Fort Edward. The Spartans finished 22-3 with pitcher Emily Hess earning Class A Player of the Year and First Team All-State honors. Third baseman Alex Wanchisen and catcher Mikayla Garbarino were also named to the First Team. Second baseman Meaghan Raleigh earned Second-Team All-State honors. Maine-Endwell is coached by former Binghamton Mets infielder Matt Raleigh. Matt played two seasons for the B-Mets (1997-1998) and still holds the franchise record for most home runs in a season (37 in 1997).
