NORWICH – The Chenango Hellcats have battled, but to no avail in a week’s time, as the team first fell to Union-Endicott Legion at 11-8, before tying the Tioga Dirtbags at 4-4.

On Wednesday, July 5, the Hellcats hosted the Union-Endicott Legion team, losing 11-8 when it all was said and done.

A strong start from the Hellcats was met with an even stronger start from U-E – as the Hellcats trailed 8-5 after the second inning of play.

The Hellcats proved strong at the plate, despite the loss, securing 10 hits as a team. Nate Scheer finished as the top batter, going 3-3 for the Hellcats with two runs and an RBI. Connor Greven-Briggs and Tyler King each finished 2-4 – with Graven-Briggs earning two runs and two RBI, and King having one of each.

Taking the loss last Wednesday was KJ Ives. Ives pitched two solid innings for the Hellcats, however, earned just one strikeout, while walking three batters and allowing six hits. Dylan Depew was called in for relief, pitching five innings. Depew faired better with the strikeouts, having three – but allowed one walk and eight hits.

The Hellcats would rally to three runs in the fifth and sixth innings – but ultimately couldnt overcome the powerful U-E team. Coupled with their 14 hits and only two errors to the Hellcats four – U-E left Norwich the victors at 11-8.
