NORWICH – The Valley Heights Christian Academy girls varsity basketball won their home opener when the team extended their wins to two in a row now, after they defeated North Spencer Christian Academy at home by a score of 34-25.

The game played on Tuesday, Dec. 13, saw a fantastic finish after a slow start from both teams gave way to an overall sluggish first half.

It was however, Valley Heights who started to heat up in the second period of play – after the first period tie of just 2-2 – as Valley Heights was able to net 13 points to grow their lead to 15-6 at the halftime break. Despite the slow start in the first period, it was Emily Davis and Savannah Bresee who did most of the heavy lifting for Valley Heights in their win, as Davis grabbed 15 points while Bresee went into the double digits in scoring as well with her 12 points scored.

The Valley Heights defensive effort held North Spencer to just 10 points for three periods of play, allowing the offense to get into their groove as the game progressed.
