CHENANGO COUNTY – A large band of rain moved through the Chenango County area on Monday, August 1, creating chaos around the County.

The rain continued at a steady pace from early morning, until about 10:30 p.m. Over four and a half inches of rain water were reported to have accumulated in multiple parts of the County.

The severe weather caused a number of customers in the Chenango County region to lose power. As of 9 a.m., NYSEG reports that 365 people still remain without power in the area.

A Flash Flood Warning was issued by The National Weather Service in Binghamton at 8:35 p.m., which lasted until 11:30 p.m. Multiple road closures, as well as mud slides, were also reported, with many major roads impassable due to being breached by the heavy flood waters.
