NORWICH – Two individuals were sentenced to probation when the Chenango County Court convened for an afternoon session on Monday, July 18. Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride represented the people in all of the cases, while The Honorable Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. presided over matters.

• Morgan J. Calvert, 21. of Norwich, appeared in front of the court with defense attorney Scott Clippinger. It was alleged that on Feb. 10, 2016, Calvert, while acting in concert with others, possessed materials to unlawfully manufacture methamphetamine at a residence on Prospect Street, in the City of Norwich.

In an agreed upon disposition with the District Attorney's Office, she agreed to enter a plea of guilty to the class D felony of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree.

As a result of this plea deal, Calvert will be placed on a year of interim probation, where her progress will be closely monitored. If she performs well, her felony charge will ultimately be reduced to a misdemeanor, and she will serve another two years on probation.

As a part of the plea deal, Calvert will also be required to successfully complete the drug treatment program, and will have to testify against her co-defendant's in any further criminal proceedings. She may also be liable for 25 percent of any restitution claims made by the victims of her crime.
