COOPERSTOWN – The Chenango Hellcats traveled over the hill to play Cooperstown on July 5, a non-league game which saw The Hellcats hold onto the win at 6-5, extending their winning streak to three games.

Notably Cooperstown is 21U team, while The Chenango Hellcats are 19U team, Cooperstown therefore allowed The Hellcats to utilize two of their coaches, Ben Barnes and Cameron Heggie, both are assistant coaches of the team and currently are active members of their collegiate teams.

“It shouldn’t have been as close as it was, we just started catching momentum in the fourth, said Hellcats head coach Jason Miller. “We got a run on a bunt, it was great. Then strung together two runs and then three runs.”

The game would remain knotted up at no score until The Hellcats saw the solid bunt from Vince Caiati sent Conor Graven-Briggs home for the run.

The Hellcats would tack on two runs in the fifth to take the 3-0 lead, before mistakes in their fielding cost them four runs to Cooperstown, as they surrendered the late lead, at 4-3.

The Hellcats would commit two errors in the game, compared to Cooperstown's three.
