‘We got out errored’

NORWICH – The Norwich American Legion Hellcat baseball squad took to the diamond on Wednesday, June 15, to host Maine-Endwell Post 1700, a game in which nothing seemed to go in favor of Norwich, as they lost 9-1.

Maine-Endwell would earn the early points when they first jumped on the board, storming to a 3-0 lead over the Hellcats in the second inning.

The Hellcats would give three different individuals opportunities on the mound, as Conor Graven-Briggs would pitch for the first four innings before Kyle Crawford and Paden Burlison would each come in. Graven-Briggs and Crawford would struggle some at the plate, recording no strikeouts, while Burlison would notch two under his belt.

For Maine-Endwell pitching seemed to go more their way, as Isham would stand in as the lone pitcher in the contest, striking out six Hellcat batters.

The sub-par pitching from the Hellcats was only amplified when their defense recorded an astounding seven errors in the game. Maine-Endwell would take full advantage of the mistakes, as they would only record three of their own.

“Later on in the game, fell apart a bit and it got contagious,” said Hellcat head coach Jason Miller. “We weren’t out hit just got out errored.”
