Klecha And Anderson Score, As Greene Competes In The Class C Meet

SIDNEY – The boys and girls of the Greene varsity track and field team traveled over to Sidney for the annual Section IV Class C Meet, last Thursday, May 26., at Sidney high school.

Out of the seventeen teams which were present for the meet, the boys would finish in fourteenth with only two-points scored. The eventual winner on the boys side would be Dryden who locked up the team win with 112-points.

The Lady Trojans wouldn’t fair much better as a team overall, as they would score just two-points, ending them in sixteenth place. The winner on the girls side was Newark Valley with 87-points.

Despite the low team scoring, their were some standout efforts made individually by both the boys and girls.

• 400 meter dash saw the winning time go to Tor Wildenstein of Dryden with a 49.78. However, Greene's Nolan Scofield would run a 1:03.44 for a seventeenth place finish.

• In the 400 meter hurdles and with a time of 1:00.07, Jonny Polo Rankin of Tioga would earn the win. However, Greene's Greg Wynter would see some success with a seventh place finish, running a 1:03.69.

• 800 meter run saw the winner from Chenango Forks, Kevin Withers, run a winning time of 2:02.88. While Greene's Scofield would secure a twelfth place finish with a time of 2:19.70.
