BINGHAMTON – The singles and doubles varsity tennis class C Section IV Championship was recently held at the Binghamton Tennis Center, on May 21.
Despite Oxford high school sending two representatives from their team – Francisco Quintana and Josh Nelson – to compete in the tournament, neither would earn a trip to the upcoming 2016 New York State Championship, which will be held at National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows on June 2-4.
Alex Wang of Corning, Mike Entry and Kolby Reasons would each secure a spot on the state team with Alex Wang emerging the singles champion, defeating Entry in a hotly contested three-setter in the finals at 6-3, 3-6, and 6-4. While Reasons would earn a third place finish when he handily beat Nick Parkes of Lansing at 6-1 and 6-1.
