CHENANGO VALLEY– The Norwich varsity softball team earned their tenth win of the 2016 season, when they traveled to Chenango Valley Monday, May 9., winning 5-3

“It was good game, we got the win. But the storyline is Hannah and Jordan,” said Norwich head coach Scott Moore.

After starting somewhat slow on both sides, Norwich managed to score a run in the second inning when Airelle Jacquette managed to connect with the ball, ultimately grounding out to second base but sending Norwich's Hannah Eddy home for the score.

At 1-0 heading into the third, it was senior Shannon Moore who hit a solid shot to left field, ultimately being recorded as an error due to a dropped catch. This hit saw Moore reach first base and allowed her teammate, Bridget Murphy to fly home from third. Murphy had previously started the inning out with a third base hit to right field.

At 2-0, Norwich slugger Jordan Sanford stepped to the plate to knock Moore and herself home with a two run homer giving Norwich the edge they ultimately needed to pull out the win.

“She had a two run home run in the third, right off the scoreboard, hit the middle of the score board, it was nice,” said coach Moore.
