Trojan Softball remains undefeated

GREENE – The Greene varsity softball team remained undefeated on the season at 7-0, as they eventually toppled Unatego this past Monday, April 18, winning 3-2.

“I assumed it was gonna be a closer game due to the competition level,” said Greene head coach Rick Condon. “But our defense is solid so I expect us to be in every game we play, just because they know how to make the adjustments and they’re extremely coachable, every single one of the girls. It was a collective effort by everybody even the kids on the bench. Everyone was cheering, trying to make something happen.”

The Trojans and Spartans exchanged blows throughout the duration of the seven inning game as neither side seemed to be able to hold onto the lead for more than an inning or two.

“It was a battle from both teams all the way through. Unatego jumped out early on us, they scored a run in the first,” said Condon. “The girls realized they had to make adjustments, then we tied it up in the second. Unatego scored again in the fourth, defensively I don’t worry much. But its the offensive side where we have to keep pushing.”

As Condon attested the game saw The Spartans jump onto the scoreboard first when Becht knocked a sacrifice fly out which enabled allowed Leveille who was already on base to make it home.
