YMCA creates youth track program

NORWICH – The Norwich YMCA has created a new youth program that invites all kids and track athletes in the greater Chenango County (as well as other counties) to experience the fun and excitement of Track and Field.

The Y’s new track club, called “The Bolts”, has registered with USA Track & Field, a nation-wide program. Kids, ages 6 to 18, can join The Bolts to simply get great running experience, to learn the fundamentals of all track and field events, to be part of a great new team, or even to compete in the 'Junior Olympic' series in our region.

Athletes and kids of all ages can join anytime from April 24, to June 1. The cost is $80 for three months and includes a competitive track tank, specialized coaching and a conditioning program. All athletes must also register with USA Track & Field. There will be 6–8 away and home track meets.

If your child is 6 to 12 years old, and not old enough to be on a track team yet, but loves to compete, this is a great program for younger kids. Also, if your child is presently on a modified or varsity team, and wants the opportunity to qualify for bigger regional and national meets in the Summer, this is the program for them as well.

Come join the Bolts USA Track & Field Club today. Simply call the Norwich Family YMCA at 336-9622, and ask for Shannon Gawronski.

This coming Monday, April 18, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Norwich YMCA there will be an informational meeting for parents and kids who may be interested in joining or are seeking some more information.
