WALTON – The lady Trojans traveled to Walton in an attempt to move their record to 3-0 on the season thus far, something they accomplished in a way that should have teams curious how to slow them down.

Greene would secure the win at 26-0 after mercy ruling Walton on their home diamond.

Despite the impressive score line, it wasn’t a complete blowout early on, as Greene has now been able to successfully score at least a run in every single inning this season, something head coach Rick Condon noted.

“We have scored every inning of every game we have played. So yeah were coming right out and jumping on teams, but its also a gradual climb through the game,” said Condon.

The lady Trojans did jump out to an early lead with an opening inning that had them up 8-0 by the end.

Greene would reach the double digit mark in the game as early as the top of the second inning when Maddie Brink nailed a triple which allowed Bennett to make it home; followed up shortly after with an additional stolen base for the tenth point from Brink herself.

Brink ended the evening going 4-4 at the bat with three triples and a double, 4-runs, and 3-RBI's.

“She was on fire,” said Condon. “A lot of the girls had a great game. We had 27-hits and scored 26-runs so thats pretty productive, everything worked the way it was supposed to work.”

Condon noted that his pitcher Alex Thompson did pitch the duration of the 5-inning game, successfully pitching a shut out. However, Condon did not fail to point out that the team played tremendously together on the defensive side, as the infield and outfield helped Thompson earn that shut out with their play.

“Defense was playing unbelievably well, they were tracking balls down in the outfield, they were even tracking foul balls,” said Condon. “They’re a great group of kids, we still have a lot of work to do to get them to the level they need to be at. They’re on their way there, but we still have some games that are going to test us and that is when I'll see what they’re about and thats when they’ll see the drive it takes to get you to the next level.”

Greene saw almost the entire team record a hit, as well as earn a run on the night, in what truly was a total team win.

Next up for Greene is Delhi later on today, when the lady Trojans will travel their in search of remaining undefeated on the season. Game will be begin at 4:30 p.m.

Clinic after the Saturday game, a few varsity players will be present to go over fundamentals with younger players in the Greene Softball program.
