Defending the home diamond

OXFORD – The visiting Greene Trojans couldn’t muster what was needed late to complete the comeback over the hosting Oxford Blackhawks, Oxford would end up holding on late to a 9-6 victory.

It was the pitching of Oxford's Kevin Davis that had the Trojans struggling early on. This deficiency on the batting end for Greene allowed Oxford to jump out to a 9-2 lead as late as the bottom of the sixth inning.

The life was not drained out of Greene however, as Luke Day doubled to center field in an attempt to get the ball rolling for the Trojans. This double allowed his teammates, Cook and Leone to make it home, drawing the score to a nice 9-4.

Oxford would fail to tack on any additional points late in the game as they were sitting pretty at 9 for much of the end of the game.
