William and Jacqueline Craine honored by Carleton College

NORTHFIELD, MINN. – William and Jacqueline Craine of Sherburne, New York, have been awarded the William Carleton Medal in honor of their exceptional generosity and longstanding service to Carleton College.

Bill Craine, a 1970 graduate of Carleton, was a government major, class vice president and member of Carleton’s varsity track team. In 1974, he was elected the youngest member ever to serve on Chenango County’s legislative board. He has continually served his hometown of Sherburne and surrounding communities in roles including mayor, treasurer, and chairman of the board of supervisors. He was an executive for more than 30 years at Granite Capital Holdings, where he was chairman and CEO until his retirement in 2005. He also served as chairman of the board of directors of Partners Trust Financial Group and BSB Bancorp, and was a director at many other organizations.
