Alexa Bates leads Marauders Volleyball in post-season honors

SHERBURNE – The Sections III Center States Conference (CSC) recently released their postseason volleyball awards and a trio of Lady Marauders were among those recognized.

Alexa Bates, a junior wearing number 19 for S-E, was named a First-Team All-Star for Sherburne-Earlville

Alexa earns this honor after posting a team-high 134 kills and 48 blocks; while also posting 76 assists and 86 digs on the year.

Bates earned this honor despite missing the final four games of the regular season with a lower leg injury.

The Marauders also had seniors Kaylee Scott and Brianna Adsit receive honorable mention designations.

Scott led the Lady Marauders on the offensive side with 66 aces and managed 111 kills, while Adsit showed off her balanced play by posting 97 kills, 91 assists and 94 digs.

“It’s always great to see your kids earn these postseason awards,” said S-E varsity volleyball head coach Ed Holmquist. “They work so hard year round, so it’s nice to see them rewarded for their efforts.”

Due to their high level of play all season long, Scott and Adsit were selected to participate in Section III Volleyball’s Senior Showcase which took place on Feb. 24 in Dolgeville. The showcase featured the top senior volleyball players from Section III class B, C and D.

Karah Smith, who led The Marauders with 114 digs was also voted to play in the Senior Showcase, but did not participate due to illness.
