DVD Patrol: Crimson Peak, The Peacemaker

By: Todd Campbell

Got some new ones, Patrollers! A couple of these the Toddster reviewed back in 2015 but now it's your turn to take a look at them. We're also looking back at a couple of old favorites with George Clooney and Jennifer Garner. Like to know how everyone likes some old ones but they never go out of style.

New on DVD

S.P.E.C.T.R.E- There always come an end to the mission. James Bond (Daniel Craig) is still reeling from the events of Skyfall and the tragic death of M (Judi Dench). Receiving instructions from M before her death, James goes on the hunt for the head of SPECTRE. It turns out they have been behind all the bad things that have befallen him ever since he met Vesper Lynde and became a OO. Now his job and MI6 are on the line when the Government wants to use some new methods to dispense justice. James knows that Spectre has its' hands in just about everything and now he has to cut the head off of the snake if he's to stop them once and for all. Can Bond do what he does best or is it finally over? My sources tell me that Craig is still under contract for another Bond movie but judging from interviews and other news, Craig may be done as Bond. We'll see. Stay Tuned.

Crimson Peak- Sometimes when you don't believe in something, something comes along to make you believe. From Director Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy)Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) was something of a budding writer and wanted to have her ghost story published. During these days, it wasn't judged very well when a woman tried to make a name for herself in a lot of professions. Nonetheless she was always trying. Her life was about to change in a big way when she met Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston). He was trying to sell an invention but he was turned down. Thomas still took a liking to Edith which turned to love. After her Father was tragically killed, she decided to marry Thomas and they moved in with Thomas's Sister Lucille (Jessica Chastain). Edith starts to see things and she's not sure what they want. Do they want to help her or hurt her? Del Toro has some upcoming projects coming including a sequel to "Pacific Rim" and has "Hellboy 3" in the works coming to theaters.

Also on DVD

Alias (1999-2005) Jennifer Garner starred in this great spy thriller series from J.J Abrams (Star Wars 7:The Force Awakens). Sydney Bristow (Garner) was a college student who moonlighted working for the CIA at a division called "SD-6. She would fly all over the World risking life and limb doing valuable work for our country. Or so she thought. When she tried to tell her husband to be about what she really did, it wasn't exactly met with open arms. He gets killed and she has to go on the run to steal an important item of interest. Sydney also learns that SD-6 is really a terrorist network and has nothing to do with the CIA. Can she do her job and help the CIA bring down the people that killed her fiance? Another show just announced that is in development to come back is "Macgyver" and will air on CBS at a later date. The Toddster isn't sure about this. The original was great. We'll see how this one delivers.

The Peacemaker (1997)- The mission always has to come first but you have to make it work with the people you have to work with. Tom Devoe (George Clooney) was never brought unless the problem was really bad. He's paired up with Dr. Julia Kelly. They're part of a task force when a nuclear explosion goes off in Russia with more devices that have been stolen. Tom and Julia don't really hit it off and the two both have different ideas of how the job should be done. Can they get along to save the World from being blow up? Clooney can currently be seen with an all star cast in "Hail, Caesar." He plays Hollywood Star Baird Whitlock who is kidnapped and ransomed for money. Will he make it back? "Hail Caesar" is in theaters now.

Before we go, we have a Toddster's Take planned for "Deadpool" starring Ryan Reynolds. Really curious on this one. Not for the little kids though judging from the trailers we've been looking at. See you next time with the Toddster.
