Sports Spotlight: Jordan Anderson

Jordan Anderson is The Evening Sun's Sports Spotlight athlete of the week for her continued success on the basketball court for Morrisville State College.

Jordan Anderson a recent Unadilla Valley graduate, still holds true to many things she once did on the high school court, as she has beautifully translated it into college play.

Still wearing number 23, Anderson is now in what marks here junior year with the Mustangs at Morrisville. Anderson was a four year varsity starter for The Storm in high school and helped lead her UV team to the MAC league championship during her senior year campaign.

Anderson notably received First Team All-Star honors in the Mid-state Athletic Conference in 2011, 2012, and 2013. In addition, she played summer basketball on a team as well.

Anderson recently recorded her name in Morrisville State College history for the time being, as she currently is the all-time scoring leader in school history, when she passed the old record of 871-points.

The school record was toppled on Jan. 30, when Anderson sank a simple basket to over come to record her name in the record books. The game against Keuka college was stopped briefly to acknowledge the accomplishment. Both Anderson's parents and her old high school coach, Brandi Whitbeck were in attendance.

Morrisville would go on to beat Keuka College 59-41 as Anderson herself recorded an impressive outing with 17-points, six rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, for the Mustangs.

Following this outing a few weeks ago, the record had been extended to 885-points.

The mark of 871 was recently set last year by a graduating senior from Brooklyn, NY, Jennelle Paul.

Anderson, only standing at 5' 1” has set pretty lofty goals and aspirations for her play on and off the field.Anderson is averaging at this moment over 15-points a game, an impressive feat which could land Anderson in the record books once again for Morrisville when she eventually goes over the 1,000 point mark.

Anderson continues to be a field general for The Mustangs as a junior and will look forward to closing out this year strong with another strong campaign awaiting.

Anderson was most recently noted as the Morrsiville State College, athlete of the week. Anderson was cited as helping carry her team in two very important games, as she netted 22-points in the first game against Express, followed by the game against Keuka College where Anderson sank 17-points and claimed the crown of all time leading scorer.

Anderson continues to excel, and that is why she has been spot lighted by The Evening Sun.
