BGAH Goes Undefeated At First Ever John Wake Duels

DELHI – The Bears coming off only their second loss of the season to state ranked Adirondack last Friday, Jan. 29. wasted no time wallowing in a loss, going 4-0 the very next day.

This past Saturday Jan. 30, the very next day, The Bears traveled to Delhi for the first ever John Wake Duels.

This duel meet, round robin style tournament featured a five team roster of, BGAH, Walton-Delhi, Morrisville-Eaton, Unatego, and Onteora.

BGAH, the only Chenango County based team went into the tournament, ranked fifth in the state for small schools, something no other team at this tournament had the credentials to say.

Despite these lofty credentials and ultimately going undefeated, BGAH did see some stout competition when it came to Walton-Delhi and Morrisville-Eaton.

BGAH faced Walton-Delhi in the very first round, edging them by a mere 3-points, 39-36. Exchanging one forfeit each in the matchup set up 13 matches. BGAH found itself in hole late at 36-27. It was the two heavyweights, Mitchell Weist at 220-pounds and Dylan Mondore at 285-pounds, who saved the day for The Bears earning back-to-back quick pins pulling off a twelve point swing to win the match.
