NORWICH – The Norwich Tornado men’s varsity basketball team defeated fellow Section IV team Susquehanna Valley last night by an impressive 65-46.

The defensive effort from the Tornado in the first quarter of play, held the Sabers’ offense to only 7 points compared to Norwich who put up 19 of their own in the first quarter. Number 10, Carlos Ithier, came out firing early on, sinking a 3-point shot and three 2-point shots, just to start the game off.

The Sabers’ did fire back in the second quarter, scoring 20 as team, riding on the back of number 33, Austin Haskell. Haskell bucketed four 2-point throws and went 3-3 from the foul line to draw the deficit to only 10 at the half way mark.

After the halfway break it was once again all about defense. Norwich allowed SV to only score 1-point the entire third quarter. This one point came off a foul call where SV’s number 44 went 1-2 from the stripe.

The Tornado would ultimately roll over SV the rest of the game, eventually winning 65-46.

The top scorer for Norwich on the night was Ithier once again. Ithier bucketed 16-points, five 2-point shots, while going 3-3 from the foul line. Ithier also added that 3-point shot early on for good measure.
