ITHACA – Thomas Reilly and Caroline Stewart made it into the Norwich High School history books when the Tornado men and women’s Indoor Track teams participated in the Doug Quinney Invitational at Cornell University this past weekend.

Reilly broke the NHS Indoor Track record for shot put, hitting the 51 feet, six inches mark, while Stewart broke two records. She hit a new long of 33 feet, five inches in the triple jump and a new high of four feet, eight inches, in the high jump competition.

The Tornado throwers had a particularly good day. Along with Reilly placing first in shot put, Katelyn Shaver took second in the women’s shot put competition, with a throw of 35 feet, 10 inches and David Bernstein placed second in the men’s shot put, with a throw of 45 feet, four inches.

“Thomas and David have taken first and second in every meet this year, no one else is even close in Section 4,” said Norwich throwing coach Thomas Stoddard. “Katelyn Shaver has placed second on three occasions, only losing to Alexis Daniels, who was last year's State Champion in shot put.”
