HANCOCK – Unadilla Valley used a late comeback to grab an important, two-point win in Hancock on a score line of 41-39 last night, Jan. 12.

The Storm, coming off of a tough loss to Sidney last Friday night, came out of the tunnel looking deflated and lacking energy. Hancock took full advantage, and went on a scoring binge. Ashley Drake scored six of her game high 16 points for Hancock in the quarter to put her team up by eight points.

UV managed to shave three points off the deficit, but still trailed by five at the half-time break, 16-11.

“After a very long bus ride and slow start, we finally got going in the second half,” said UV head coach Brandi Whitbeck.

Led by Julia Oglesby and Hunter Lakin, the Storm clawed their way back into the game. The duo combined to score all of their teams 14 points in the third quarter and contributed seven more in the fourth to clinch the close victory.

Whitbeck praised Oglesby and Lakin following the game, saying, “Julia and Hunter stepped up huge tonight.”
