JOHNSON CITY – The Norwich Purple Tornado Wrestling team traveled to Johnson City last night, Dec. 22, to compete against a Section 4 rival.
Despite a lot of back and forth matches, Norwich fell victim to a late push by the Wild Cats, losing 39-37.
This Tuesday night’s matchup featured a Norwich team who was coming off a hot showing at last weekends Owego Duels Tournament. Norwich finished the tournament defeating eight out of nine of the teams they faced, only coming up short against Vestal.
“We just got done wrestling nine duel meets in two days and were right back at it again, so the guys might have been a little tired,” said Norwich Head Coach Bob Hagenbuch.
Norwich claimed the team lead over the Wild Cats at 31-30 when the 112 pound weight class stepped onto the mat.
In what proved to be a very pivotal matchup, which featured Norwich’s Nick Glanville and Johnson City’s Chance Ruland.
