NORWICH – Two cases related to sex crimes were heard Monday morning, Dec. 21, in Chenango County Court.

Chenango County Judge Frank B. Revoir Jr. presided over both cases while District Attorney Joseph A. McBride was present on behalf of the people.

• Jeffrey W. White, Jr., 27, of Unadilla was in court with his attorney, Public Defender John Cameron.

White was in court for a possible change of plea and sentencing.

White was arrested on June 13, 2015 and charged with rape after he allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with a minor.

White was offered a plea bargain from the District Attorney’s Office. If White were to enter a plea of guilty to the first count of his indictment (rape in the third degree, a class E felony), he would receive a split sentence of four months of weekends followed by 10 years probation.

White would be required to register as a sex offender, and pay various other fines, fees, and surcharges.

McBride made it known to the court that White was only being allowed to serve weekends due to his status of being employed full-time.

Revoir read the first count of the indictment which alleges that on June 13, 2015 in the Whispering Pines trailer park, White, being over 21 years of age, “engaged in sexual intercourse with a female who was under the age of consent.”

It was alleged that the victim in the matter was 15-years-old.
