Greene/Oxford

OXFORD - Traveling to Oxford, the Greene varsity wrestling team took on the Blackhawks in an incredibly competitive match in which Oxford would come out on top 31-30.

Starting the match at the 170 pound weight class, Oxford would receive two straight forfeits to go up 12-0 on the Trojans. The first match to be decided on the mat was at 195. Greene's Braxton Howell made short work of Oxford's Dakota Freidel and earned a pin early in the match, breathing some life into the Trojans.

The next two matches at 220 and 285 were not wrestled as neither team sent out a man to the mat. At 99 pounds Greene won their second match in a row as Jordan Taft pinned Cooper Rice of Oxford late in their match to tie the team scores at 12 each.

As the matches at 106 and 113 were not wrestled as well, the next match would be at the 120 pound class. Oxford's Brenden Gager pinned Greene's Logan Kennedy for six more points for the Blackhawks. The 126 match earned Oxford another forfeit as well as a win at 126 with an Adam Brady win over Noah Kennedy with a 7-4 decision, putting the Blackhawks up 27-12.
