Oxford To Host Santa, Tree Lighting Ceremony
Published: November 27th, 2015

OXFORD – Village of Oxford Mayor Terry Stark will be dusting off his top hat once again this year for the pinnacle of Villages' annual events; the holiday season kick-off.

Preparations are being made, Christmas tree raffle tickets are being sold in Chubb’s, and even a special fundraising day is set at Roma’s.

The community is cordially invited to join Mayor Stark in LaFayette Park for the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony which will be held this year on Sunday, Nov. 29, beginning at 5 p.m.

Children and adults will gather at the heart of the Village green near the bandstand, the site of an old-fashioned community festival of lights, music, roasted chestnuts, caroling, refreshments, joyous reveling, and perhaps even a few surprises.

The Oxford Holiday Committee (OHC) has creatively designed a layout to decorate the Park with as bright and dazzling a display as possible. Why not bring your loved ones to witness the spectacle of the season’s first lights downtown.

The beautiful twelve-foot-tall, evergreen tree will be up and twinkling with lots of illuminated vignettes, and lighted ornaments spanning the new Oxford Main Street Bridge will adorn the Navy Block.
