NORWICH – Speedway – the company that bought out the Hess Corporation – is showing gas prices in the Norwich area that are below the market average.

Tuesday, Aug. 25, at approximately 1 p.m. the people of Norwich were largely taken aback when they drove down Route 12 and discovered that both Hess gas stations, one just north the City of Norwich and the other just south, were closed and seemed to be under construction, as it appeared a new company was moving in.

This apparent new company was Speedway LLC. At that time, Speedway was contacted and would only give the comment of, “All I can say is that we did buy out the local Hess stations there,” said a Speedway LLC customer service representative when asked about the change.

The Speedway LLC customer service representative then directed the call to the public relations/media representative, who at that time was unavailable for comment.

Since that time, Stefanie Griffith, the Communications Manager at Marathon Petroleum Corporation, was available for comment and made available a press release of the switch from Hess to Speedway.
