Sherburne man accused of making meth along banks of the Chenango River

SHERBURNE – A 35-year-old man sits in the Chenango County Correctional Facility after being arrested on multiple meth-related charges on Tuesday.

Robert J. Collins of Sherburne was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday after authorities said he was manufacturing meth along the banks of the Chenango River.

“There has been an outburst of meth labs and we are cracking down,” said Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride. “We will do everything we can to shut them down and get it off the streets.”

Narcotics Detectives located Collins along the river behind North Main Street in Sherburne.

Per a release from the Sheriff’s Office, “Collins was cooking methamphetamine using the ‘one pot’ method before he was ordered to stop and taken into custody.”
