Bainbridge Streakers Teams Capture Championships

ONEONTA - On Saturday August, 1, five U15 teams met at Neahwa Park in Oneonta to compete for the Oneonta City Fastpitch Softball championship. Unatego, Oxford, Laurens, Harpursville, and Bainbridge all met to play for the top spot.

In the first round Oxford and Unatego played in what would be a hard fought win for Unatego. Unatego then faced Bainbridge in the first semi-final game; which Bainbridge captured after a 21-3 victory. In the second game was Laruens and Harpursville, with Harpursville coming out on top.

Scoring 12 runs in the first three innings the Bainbridge Streakers U15 dominated their first game from the start. The Streakers batters easily handled Unatego pitching as eight hitters combined for 15 hits, 14 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. Alli Miller recorded the win for the Streakers in the circle, allowing two runs over three innings striking out six, walking one, and giving up one hit. The combined effort put the Streakers into the championship game against Harpursville later in the day.

Capturing the title 10-2, the Streakers scored early and often putting up six runs in the first two innings. In the first a walk by Kass Davy, an RBI single by Alexis Carr, and a walk by Morgan Neidig all put runs on the board for Bainbridge. The Streakers scored much in the same way in the second with an RBI double by Kori Thornton, an RBI single by Brie Barber, and a fielder's choice bringing
