NORWICH – The Chenango County Fair is fast approaching as the summer months progress. With the County Fair, come many attractions to the Chenango County area that will provide a week full of fun for all to enjoy.

Along with the main attractions of food, carnival rides, and grandstand events, the County Fair also brings many exhibits to check out throughout the week within the main exhibit hall. These displays need not to be overlooked or overshadowed when enjoying the County Fair.

Last August, Monica Jensen, longtime resident of Norwich, and 30-year member of the Town and Country Garden Club, entered a Blue Hydrangea in the Arboreal class for Horticulture. After careful consideration by the judges, Jensen left the County Fair with a best in show award, as the top prizewinner in the category.

Jensen’s Blue Hydrangea was then nominated for state consideration as well. After a very thorough judging process, done by the Federated Garden Club of New York State, Jensen walked away with the top-prize in the state as well. Jensen was given an ornamental plaque as the prize, in which she can keep for a entire year, until the start of the Fair once again. Her name was also added to the bottom of the plaque.
