NORWICH – Opportunities for Chenango is reaching out to mobile home owners in the county with an offer to help repair or even replace their home with a new one.

In the last year, OFC has been able to replace mobile homes for seven families in Chenango County thanks to a round of state grant funds. In May, 2014, OFC became the conduit of a $400,000 grant from the New York State Office of Housing and Community Renewal, a state agency that oversees development programs in the area of housing restoration and preservation.

Funds from Housing and Community Renewal leverage an additional $400,000 which was awarded to OFC through the NYS Community Development Block Grant program last year, giving the agency means to replace a total of 10 mobile homes for qualified Chenango County residents and repair dozens more.

This marks the second time Chenango County has been awarded money for mobile home repairs and replacements. In 2011, the county received $400,000 for what was then a pilot program. That grant was later leveraged by additional state funds that allowed OFC to replace 11 mobile homes in 2011 and 2012.
