Published: June 30th, 2015

OXFORD – Vada Mack, daughter of Shanie Mack of Oxford, was recently selected as the first recipient of the 2015 Fort Hill American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) Unit #376 scholarship.

Mack is a graduate of Oxford Academy’s Class of 2015. She has been a member of the Oxford EMS Explorers program since 2011 and has been an active member of Oxford Academy’s FFA for her junior and senior years. She has performed very well in high school both academically and athletically on the basketball court.

Mack’s dedication to community service through helping with the Legion’s Sunday Community Breakfast is just one shining example of her integrity to her community. Through her volunteering with the Oxford Explorers Mack not only got an education, but gained satisfaction in helping others. This has motivated Vada to pursue a nursing degree at SUNY Broome in the fall of 2015. Her ultimate wish is to be a maternity nurse.
