NORWICH – Led by senior Morgan Hagenbuch and underclassmen Emily Shattuck and Katelyn Shaver, Norwich's girls blew away Chenango Forks Tuesday afternoon to wrap up a second straight STAC East division title.

Hagenbuch had four overall victories – one a relay – Shattuck picked up three first-place finishes, and Shaver again swept the throwing events taking the shot put and discus.

Freshman Caroline Stewart (triple jump) senior Kristen Slate (800 meters), and senior Martha Clemens (1,500 meters) also found the win column in individual events to aid the Tornado cause.

"Honestly, I didn't think we would put this much pressure on (Chenango Forks)," said Norwich coach Shaun Horan. "I thought we might win by 20 or 30, but to win by 58 was huge. I think that once they saw the jumping and throwing results coming in, they may have given up."

Hagenbuch coasted to a win in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump, but needed to summon every bit of her technique and speed to capture the 400-meter hurdles winning by a whisker in 1:08.5. "The kid that (Morgan beat) had beaten her last Friday in Oneonta," Horan said. "Morgan has been pushing hard for 1:11s, so to drop 2 1/2 seconds today was big for her."

The Tornado boys came up short in their bid for a division championship as Forks captured all but three events to win going away.
