Tree planted to honor the late Stew Chase

With help from the City of Norwich Parks Commission and the Norwich Tree Commission, a newly planted tree in West Park was dedicated to the honor of the late Stew Chase on Friday, and a proclamation issued on behalf of the city. Chase was an active member of the Parks Commission and several others, putting in countless volunteer hours to brighten up the City of Norwich.

Said Mayor Joseph Maiurano, "When I think of Stew, the words of John F. Kennedy come to mind: 'Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.' Stew had the same attitude about the city."

Chase is survived by his wife, Carla, and his daughter, Jerrilynn, both of whom were in attendance at Friday's tribute.
