DVD Patrol: Valentine’s Day Edition

We're Feeling Romantic, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol has love in the air since tomorrow is Valentines' Day. Here are some good movies that you might need to throw in on a cold winter's night or a rainy day. The Toddster is nothing if not a softie every so often. See if you have seen any of them.

Coyote Ugly- Sometimes you have go to the city to find your dreams. Violet Sanford (Piper Perebo) wanted to be a songwriter but to so that New York City was the place to do that. She thought she had everything set up for that but after her apartment is broken into, she has to find a job. She meets Lil (Maria Bello) who owns a popular bar called "Coyote Ugly." Lil decides to take a chance and brings her into the bar. Things don't start so well but it all gets better. One of those is meeting Kevin (Adam Garcia) who thinks she has a lot of talent in more ways than one. Violet has a terrible case of stage fright and gets a chance to sing on stage but it might jeopardize her job and her new relationship with Kevin. What will Violet do next?

Music and Lyrics- Getting a second chance at something you're good at doesn't come along too often. Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) had a great career as a singer for a pop group but sadly they broke up. Now he's been going on jobs singing wherever he can. One of the biggest pop stars meets with him and wants him to write a new song for her next concert in New York City. Writing the music is easy but the lyrics aren't so easy. Alex meets Sophie (Drew Barrymore) and learns she has a knack with words. It's not so easy at first but they find that they're very good together. Will they find out they have more than writing music in common?

Sleepless in Seattle- Losing your soul-mate is never something you want to happen but you might meet someone new. Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) was an architect who recently lost his wife. Sam decides he needs a fresh start for him and his son Jonah (Ross Malinger). They move to Seattle and to help his Dad get happy, Jonah makes a call to a call in radio show to see if he can get any tips. Sam catches him and he starts talking to the host about his former wife and the things that made her what she was. While driving to Washington D.C, Annie (Meg Ryan) is listening to the show and she feels drawn to Sam. Being a reporter she decides to use her sources to find him. She finds him but isn't sure what to do next. Jonah set up a meeting for them on Valentines' Day on the Empire State Building. Are they going to meet up?

The American President- Finding a date is never something easy. If you're the President of the United States, it can be even trickier. Andrew Sheppard (Micheal Douglas) had lost his wife from cancer and is now raising his daughter as a single parent. During a meeting he meets a lobbyist named Sydney Ellen-Wade (Annette Benning). He's very impressed with her and asks her to a party function. They seem to hit it off but public opinion and his staff seem to think that this relationship seems to be stopped before it even starts. Can Andrew make it work with Sydney?
