NCSD, Liberty Partnerships give a little warmth for the season

NORWICH – With the year’s coldest months just on the horizon, the Norwich City School District is teaming up with the Morrisville State College Liberty Partnerships Program to give students of all ages a little warmth for the holidays.

NCSD and Liberty Partnerships, with additional support of several community partners, are working together in a holiday clothing drive to provide much needed support to disadvantaged families throughout the Norwich area. The organizations are currently collecting new clothing and monetary donations from anyone who wants to lend a helping hand.

“Norwich (schools) have been actively involved with a clothing drive for more than 20 years, but this is only our second year working with Liberty Partnerships,” said co-coordinator and NCSD Social Worker Kelly Collins-Colosi. “We’re really pleased to be able to work with them again this year.”

With the help of Liberty Partnerships, last year’s holiday clothing drive brought in enough donations to serve 560 children, or 212 families (compared to 209 families served in 2012) with seasonally appropriate attire, from winter gloves and hats to new jeans and long sleeved shirts.
