Several arraigned in county court

NORWICH Several appeared in Chenango County Court on Friday for their arraignments.

Jose A. Ortiz-Perez, Puerto Rico, appeared in court for his arraignment, which was adjourned until an interpreter could be found. He is facing charges of two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, class B felonies; criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a class C felony; and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, a class E felony. He was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility.

Gary N. Hackett, Jr., 42, Guilford, appeared in court for his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, a class E felony; operating a motor vehicle with .08 percent or more weight of alcohol in his blood, a class A misdemeanor; and driving while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor. Previously, he had been released on his own recognizance a status that was continued. He was forbidden to consume or possess alcohol or drugs; is not to operate a motor vehicle; and is to submit to random urine analysis. Hackett will appear in court at a later date.
