Authorities: CCCF inmate possessed 20 packets of heroin

NORWICH – 28-year-old Conroy F. Robinson, who has been held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility since his arrest on July 8, 2014, was charged again after the narcotics division said 20 packets of heroin were located on the inmate.

“Corrections officers located the heroin during an investigation in the inmate’s cell,” read a release from the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, it is believed that Robinson “stored the contraband in his body cavity while being processed into the facility on a previous arrest.”

When Robinson was arrested in early July, he was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; assault in the second degree, a class D felony; tampering with physical evidence, a class E felony; and resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor.

During the July 8 arrest, authorities with the Norwich Police Department said Robinson fought and injured a NPD officer following the traffic stop, during the arrest.

Robinson was charged yesterday with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony; promoting prison contraband in the first degree, a class D felony; and criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
