COOPERSTOWN – The OCO Elites’ U-19 baseball team gained a split of a doubleheader Sunday at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown.
The Elites opened with a 4-2 victory over the Schoharie County Legion, then dropped the back end falling to Cooperstown, 9-1.
Andrew Radke pitched four innings of hitless relief to earn the win. Radke fanned two and walked three Schoharie batters.
Down 2-0 after three, the Elites grabbed the lead for good with a three-run fourth. Mason Alford doubled in Paul Van Warner with the opening run, and Richard Ryan’s two-bagger scored Alford with the tying run. Radke helped his own cause with a run-scoring single to plate Ryan. The Elites added an insurance run in the sixth with Alford doubled and scored on Austin Taylor’s two-out double to left field.
