Comedian-Singer Don White to perform at 6OTS

OXFORD – Saturday, June 14, at 7:30 p.m., 6 On The Square (6OTS) is proud to present one of the funniest entertainers on today’s music scene, Don White. Don’s a parent and husband living an ordinary life, but with his sharp wit, he can make you laugh out loud about everyday struggles that you never thought were funny before. He’s the answer to your Father’s Day gift quandary. There’s nothing like him; Don is a droll comic master of song-anecdotes.

Don White is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/and recording artist. He has ten albums, a book of short stories and a DVD titled, “Family Man – Don White Live”. He learned and honed his art of songwriting and performing in the trenches: often doing nine shows a week at Catch a Rising Star over two and a half years. Studying the masters who passed though that fabled club, Don took his genuine gift for personal anecdotal comedy, and developed it into his own infectious brand of humor and pathos that rivets the crowd wherever he plays.

Robin Vaughan of The Boston Herald wrote, “Between some sweetly amusing songs, White told tales of classic American family life that had the audience screaming with laughter….”

Don illuminates the human experience though his writing and performing, and he doesn’t have to go far. He simply stays at home with his feet firmly planted in blue-collar reality to mine comic gold. Don is a master of perfectly timed, amusing sketches-turned songs, morphing the White household into a very funny, but lovingly truthful, on-stage biopic. Whether he is singing, his funny and often touching songs like “How to Get Your Kids to Leave Home”, “Be 16 With Me”, and “Rascal”; speaking; or setting up the sneakiest punch line of the night, Don has the hearts of his audience. They know they have his.

With wit, insight and irreverence, Don has extracted emotional truth; come laugh with him. Purchase tickets for this very funny show online at the discounted price of $15 (plus $2 on-line ticket surcharge) until the date of the performance; $18 at the door. Ticket price for students, under age 18, are always $2; please call to make a student reservation. Doors open one-hour prior to show time.

If you’re there before the show, or during, be sure to view the mixed media artwork by the students of the Oxford Academy schools. The High School art will be on exhibit at 6OTS through August.

In addition, tickets are on sale now for two 6OTS raffles. One is for a special autographed quilt. This quilted wall-hanging has been signed by a year’s worth of 6OTS recording stars. All the talented singer-songwriting-musicians will continue to autograph the quilt until the drawing. These tickets are $2 each or an arm's length for $20.

The second raffle is for a 50/50, and these tickets are $10 each. Only 200 tickets were printed, so the first place winner could win up to $1000. There will be a second prize of a tote filled with 25 CDs. These drawings will be held at the seventh anniversary show with SONIA and disappear fear on June 21. All raffle proceeds support programming at 6OTS.
