Book sale, author reading at New Berlin Library

NEW BERLIN – The New Berlin Library in New Berlin has a variety of upcoming events for the community. Currently the library is holding its annual book sale with a range of well known titles, which will be on sale until May 28. The books consist of donations and books taken from the library collection – some of which are brand new. Children, young adult and pocket paperbacks are sold for 10 cents with all other books for 50 cents.

“There's a lot of authors, a lot of good titles,” said Library Director Darlene LaBrie. “All proceeds go the library and they fund programming.”

LaBrie was also excited to announce the upcoming Remnant Surprise Party with author Vanessa Roam. The author will read to children at the library from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31.

“She does a craft with them and a reading from the book,” said LaBrie. “She is there to talk if they have questions.”

Following the reading and craft project is a meet and greet from 11:30 to noon, during which time Vanessa Roam will autograph copies of “A Remnant Surprise” and “Tippy Tip.”

Roam has experience caring for and tutoring children. She also pursued classes in teaching and childhood development. Her children's books came about after she began homeschooling her own children.
