NORWICH – The Norwich City Police Department will open its doors to anyone wishing to safely dispose of their prescription drugs this weekend during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

The NPD, in conjunction with the Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), has scheduled a prescription and over-the-counter drug take-back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Norwich Police Station, 18 East Main St.

Anyone who wants to dispose of their prescription and over-the-counter drugs can do so anonymously, free of charge and with no questions asked. According to the DEA, drug take-back programs are an excellent way to provide safe, convenient and responsible means to dispose of prescription drugs while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

“This is a great opportunity for those who have accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications,” said Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino. “We’re happy to provide this service.”
