Pastor celebrates 37 years of ministry

NORWICH – Pastor Thomas G. Olson celebrated 37 years of ministry on the occasion of his retirement at Christ Lutheran Church, Norwich on Saturday, Oct. 19. He was ordained at his home congregation, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wethersfield, Connecticut, on September 12, 1976. He served 5 congregations in New York during his ministry: Trinity Lutheran Church, Wyandanch, L.I., NY, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Queens Village, NY, Kensington Lutheran Church, Buffalo, NY, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Binghamton, NY, Christ Lutheran Church, Norwich, NY.

Olson also served as President of the Norwich Interfaith Council for five years and seven years as the council’s chaplain to Morrisville College, Norwich Campus.

In his retirement he will continue as the college’s chaplain and as the community liaison with the college’s Human Service Organization, one that is focused on serving the homeless in Chenango County and Camden, NJ.
