NEW BERLIN – Turn about is fair play, especially in Unadilla Valley’s collective minds.

Just a few days after losing to B-G in overtime on a penalty kick, the Storm (7-5) prevailed over the Bobcats in the Kick for the Cure Tournament finals Saturday evening.

After a foul was called in the box, David Schwab converted the penalty kick with 6:20 left in regulation for the winning goal. It was the third meeting this season between the two clubs, and all three have gone to the wire. “The last three years, every one of our games has been a one-goal game or a tie,” said UV coach Ryan Houck. “We play each other very tight, and I’d like to say we bring the best out in each other. It was nice to get that one back from the other night.”

UV led 1-0 at halftime when Derrick Schwab scored off a header pass from older brother David. B-G knotted the game up eight minutes into the second half on Kyle Hanvey’s goal.

Unadilla Valley advanced to the finals of its tourney blanking Afton, 4-0.

Mason Alford and David Schwab had first-half goals for UV, and Nate Shackelton along with sophomore Shaun Hager added second-half goals. For Hager, it was his first-ever varsity tally.
