S-E quarterback Cody Marango threw three touchdown passes to senior Austin Jasper, and Julienne Alsheimer added a key one-yard TD run in the fourth to create a two-touchdown advantage.

Holland Patent became the first team to score more than one touchdown against S-E this season – both on passes – and the second one closed the gap to 19-12 in the third quarter. “Holland Patent is a team that could have easily been 3-1 coming into the game, and after scouting them, we felt this could be a dangerous game,” said S-E coach Mike Jasper. “That’s the way it played out.”

Marango completed eight passes, all of them to Jasper. The prolific duo connected on scoring tosses of 21 and 10 yards in the first half to give S-E a 13-6 lead.

On the final score, Jasper caught a short toss from Marango, broke two tackles, and outraced the Holland Patent secondary to the endzone for 65-yard scoring play. “We like to spread things around on offense, but we wanted to give Cody some confidence, and Cody has confidence throwing the ball to Austin,” Jasper said. “Austin turned a couple short passes into some big gains.”
