Norwich Dance Club announces first dance of the season

NORWICH – The Norwich Dance Club announced today that its first dance of the season will be held on September 20 at the Renaissance Building in downtown Norwich. The event will be an inaugural dance celebrating the recent expansion of the club’s ballroom dance floor and the 5th anniversary of the Norwich Dance Club. Live music will be provided by the Chenangoans, a twelve-piece big band that was a parting gift from Bob Arnell; a well-known former local musician, businessman and patron of the arts.

According to Norwich Dance Club founder Martha Ryan, the Norwich Dance Club is entering its sixth season. Stated Ryan, “Community acceptance and involvement of the dance club has been beyond my wildest expectations. What began as a fragile seed in my imagination has blossomed into a beautiful flower of song and dance.”

The first dance of the season will celebrate the expansion of the ballroom floor. The expansion was made necessary and paid for entirely by contributions from enthusiastic members of the dance club. According to Ryan, this contribution will lay out a welcome mat for the community. “Come … enjoy a night of elegance, camaraderie, good music and dance,” said Ryan. The Dance Floor Inauguration Dance will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 20.

The Norwich Dance club is a community group that gathers each week to learn, practice and enjoy the art of Latin and Ballroom dancing. The Dance Club meets from 7 to 9 p.m. every Friday, September through May at the Renaissance Building located at 15 South Broad St. in downtown Norwich.
