Bainbridge Man Charged With Felony Possession Of Heroin Following Raid

BAINBRIDGE – A Bainbridge man was arrested for allegedly possessing the narcotic heroin with the intent to sell following a raid last night in the Town of Bainbridge.

At approximately 9:46 last night, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office executed a “no knock” search warrant at a state Highway 206 residence in the Town of Bainbridge, subsequent to a lengthy investigation into the sale of heroin in the southern portion of Chenango County.

Alexander M. Phelan, 23, of Bainbridge was arrested by the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division and charged with two counts of third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony; third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony; seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possessing a hypodermic instrument, two counts of second degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

During the fulfillment of the search warrant the Sheriff’s Office seized heroin, marijuana, prescription medication, scales, packaging material, and cash. Phelan was arraigned in the Town of Bainbridge Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail. He will re-appear in court at a later date. – KJD
