Historical Society presents ‘The Guns of Oxford’

OXFORD – On Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m., the Oxford Historical Society (OHS) is presenting “The Guns of Oxford” a history of their excellent rifle collection which will be on display. Local firearms authority Steve Kingsley will explain the types and their histories.

The OHS houses several fascinating weapons in their collection, often overlooked when visitors come to the Depot-Museum. These extraordinary specimens include a very rare British “Brown Bess” from the Revolutionary War, hunting rifles of the early 1800’s, Civil War weapons, and later military weapons used by Oxford soldiers. Of special interest will be the most famous rifle in Chenango County’s history. Come to learn who owned it and what made it famous!
